Things being 'sub-par' often comes down to personal opinion. And personally, I think that just because one record doesn't sell as many copies as another record, well that don't make it 'sub-par'. It just means, as usual, the record buying public have their heads up their arses and have moved on to 'The Next Big Thing'.
Take the two records I have mentioned: One is a big fat commercial hit, and the other is a decidedly underrated gem. Give me fucking "Zip Gun" anyday...
I'm in love with, want to marry and have freaky honeymoon sex with "Golden Belt". That song makes my heart ache. It's no "Get It On" but WTF. I also get "Precious Star" stuck in my head for days on end. I'm this close (*makes itty bitty finger signage*) from starting a T. Rex tribute band... (Nah, lol, jks, but the power-pop outfit I'm in the process of putting together will deffo be covering them good and proper!
)

"Personally monsieur," said Poirot, "I don't give le fuck."
You shouldn't talk to me. Find better company. There's better people to know. You'll only end up like Rimbaud. Get shot by Verlaine...
