First off, you can't put up a post on the forum to promote your band/club/gig etc. That's because it's spam, and we don't allow it because the community don't like being spammed.

GlamRock.com has tools and resources specifically for bands and promoters to engage the community to drive attendances for their events.

Here is a step by step run down how to use the available tools and resources -

    1. Add and make friends from your profile page. Look for people that may be interested in what you offer, befriend them, comment on their pictures and post on their Wall.

    2. Create a Fan Group. List the details of your project.

    3. Once your Fan Group is approved, upload pics and video's. Provide enough content to do your project justice.

    4. Contribute on the GlamRock.com Forum so people get to know you. Build a reputation for friendliness, approachability and knowledge. Become a resource. Demonstrate that you know something about hard rock which lends immediate credibility and attractiveness to your project.

    5. From your Fan Group page, start inviting your friends to be followers of your project.

    6. Start posting bulletin updates to what's happening with your project.

    7. When you have gigs/nights on, post them as Events, send out invitations, upload your gig/event flyer.

    ------------------------------

That is the cheapest and best way to do it.

It takes time and a little patience but the results will be there.

See the following case studies for proof....

CASE STUDY 1 - How not to do it.

    1. DressedToKISS (an Italian KISS tribute show) joined GlamRock.com on 10/28/2010.

    2. Proceeded to set up a FAN PAGE/GROUP as recommended by GlamRock.com. Awesome looking page complete with bio, video's and a band shot.

    OUTCOMES....

    * 3 months later, only 1 fan joined their Group.
    * No visitors to the Group page.
    * EPIC FAIL!

    REASONS FOR FAILURE...

    1. Did not bother to make friends with anyone before building a fan page! That's mistake #1 and the most fatal mistake.

    2. LAZYINESS - Assumed the effort of creating the fan page was enough and people would come flocking to their shows. Yeah right!

    3. UNSOCIABLE - Made no friends (making it impossible to send out invitations to join the fan page), did not demonstrate credibility by making forum postings, did not engage any members (commenting on pictures/wall posts) and did not join any other Groups. Showed other people that they weren't friendly nor that they cared about their fans. What do you think the real Gene $simmon$ and Paul Stanley think of these guys? Not much I suspect.

    4. INSINCERE - Doesn't really care or genuine in either building awareness nor a fan base.

    5. Demonstrated to the community that they were not much better than your typical spammer.

    RESULTS...
As expected.....NONE, worse still. Visitors to their fan page from Google searches listing this topic could perceive that these guys are a bunch of losers because nobody likes them. Another EPIC FAIL!

    MORAL OF THE STORY...
If you're not going to do something properly...don't do it at all!

    UPDATE
As a favor to lazy and insincere projects, I normally delete their ghost-town fan pages to save them from embarrassment. However, I will make an exception for Dressed To Kiss, as a lasting case study for all new bands & promoters to GlamRock.com of precisely not what to do!

CASE STUDY 2 - How to do it properly

    1. Revlower joined on 01/06/2011 to promote his band ONLY FLESH and to meet new people.

    2. Proceeded to build a long list of friends....154 in 2 weeks.

    3. Set up an "ONLY FLESH" FAN PAGE and invited all friends to join. Some declined, many accepted.

    4. To boost his profile amongst the community as someone that understands GLAM & HARD ROCK, revlower became an active participant in FORUM POSTS, offering his expertise by posting on threads.

    5. To engage the members further, revlower joined 27 Groups which were closely aligned to his interests.

    6. If that wasn't enough, revlower created 4 more groups and sent out invitations for his friends to become followers.

    * The New Glam - For fans of new glam artists. Cheekily positioning ONLY FLESH (a small time act) as a pioneer and the latest best thing. Higher in stature to Vains of Jenna, Hardcore Superstar, Wig Wam or Crashdiet! Very clever marketing indeed.

    * Shock Rockers - for fans who like dramatic theater at a concert.

    * The Grandfathers of Glam - Tribute to the founders of Glam.

    * Heavy Metal Movies - For fans of metal movies

Quickly becoming the fastest growing Groups on GlamRock.com, attracting a total of 235 followers in 2 weeks!!!!, with each Group having more followers than either Cinderella, Def Leppard, Nikki Sixx or Steel Panther, each of these fan groups have existed for a very long time.

    7. Listed each of Only Flesh's 16 shows for 2011 as EVENTS and started promoting the shows to FAN PAGE followers and began securing advance attendances.

    8. Posted bulletins to fan page members, making them aware that downloads for ONLY FLESH's latest music were available.

    OUTCOMES...
    * Complete acceptance and respect as a community member.
    * Created a responsive fan base who were aware of ONLY FLESH, perceived them to be a good quality entertainment and receptive to invitations to their shows!

    REASONS FOR SUCCESS
    * Used the resources or the tools provided by GlamRock.com
    * Revlower obviously has plenty of initiative and passion in what he does.
    * I suspect Revlower is committed to the success of ONLY FLESH.

    RESULTS...
They speak for themselves. It's only been 3 weeks and advance attendance to his shows are astronomical. That I guess is the objective for any band promotion. To acquire fans!

    MORAL OF THE STORY...
It's not hard nor is it time consuming. Social media marketing is the present and the future to promoting your venture without spending a dime.

GlamRock.com offers access to fans of Glam & Hard Rock who are willing to hear of and participate in your projects. Provided that you engage them like Revlower did and NOT like DressedToKISS did.
