I just noticed the closed thread, and I think that was a good choice.
I'm not gay myself(unless you count "androgynous male lesbian"), but I find myself annoyed even when my gay friends refer to something dumb/lame/un-macho as "gay".
I realize I haven't been here long, and in the "Glam Vs. Hair Metal" quotient, I'm in the minority as a fan primarily of Glam Rock rather than Glam Metal, so I expect a bit of macho insecurity here and there.
But if, as you say, this was the first time you closed a thread, your reasoning was perfect, and I just want to extend my moral support and kudos.
    *tosses glitter at you*

    ...thank you, drive thru..

I totally agree with carroll, I hate it when people use the word "gay" incorrectly. It just makes them sound uneducated and ignorant. I applaud admin in closing the thread, although it may have been a bit more reasonable to just tell willy to re-word his post.

When I was a kid, gay meant happy.

Gay is just a word like any other, and I don't think willy intended to offend anyone. It was just an unfortunate turn of phrase. As Dynamo says, it's a word with a history of different definitions. Still with the political correctness issues regarding the use of certain words these days, admin was sensible to close it off. It's all a bit of a shame really. I hope 'glam' never becomes a word you can't use...

well, yeah i understand how it was meant too...it's part of my whole generation for people to say something like "that's well gay is that"...but i suppose for the comfort and protection of all around.

i mean everyone has a different level they get upset at...mine used to be quite low, but then i hardened myself so it's quite high now and not much bothers me.

oh what the heck *throws more glitter*
