Dude I lived in the 80s and I can tell you now that I'd go back to 1980 right now if I could!!!

It was incredible! I was too young to go to clubs but growing up as a heavy metal kid in the 80s was the best. I remember seeing Motley Crue on the Dr Feelgood tour & I caught Tommy Lee's drum stick which I still have today. I met all of Skid Row on their first tour one week after the Motley tour. I still have my huge collection of 80s Metal Edge, Circus, Hit Parader & Metal Muscle magazines too. My first concert was GnR Appetite tour. I remember getting in trouble at school for wearing the WASP 95Nasty tshirt. It was never a fad, its a way of life!

But i would love to go back to the 80's. Wish i was born 20 years earlier.
But the time we live in right now isn't bad. I like to be different then other people so i don't mind there aren't a lot of glammers out there.Posted 1 year ago # -
I've been looking for a hot tub time machine since 1990! I'd love to go back to the 80s!
THE 80s:
**When men wore long hair freely without ridicule. And the mullet was a cutting edge hairstyle(don't be ashamed of it now, Bono! Be proud! You used to be kick ass!).
**When guitar, keyboard, even saxophone solos were still accepted in music.
**When entertainers actually took the stage and ENTERTAINED THE AUDIENCE! Today they just stand there or put on some over-blown multi-dancer broadway-esque spectacle.
**When the last wave of bands that'll leave a LEGACY behind were youths gone wild!
**When classic movies were still made! NOT RE-MADE!
**When people actually SPOKE TO EACH OTHER FACE TO FACE! Not texting, twittering, facebooking, etc....
**When Goth was Goth--Not Goth-alternative, goth-metal, or EMO!!
**When people respected the music that came before. I have no memory of people talking shit about Alice Cooper, Stones, Kiss(70s era), The Who, Black Sabbath. Today SO MANY PEOPLE shake their heads, laugh, or talk pounds of shit about the bands that inspired their generation of bands. Pathetic.
About ten years ago, at the ripe old age of 31, I was driving to lunch with my sister and had Cinderella's "Shake Me" blasting on the stereo when she got in the car. She shook her head and said, "when are you going to grow out of that stuff?"
FAST FORWARD TO NOW: I'm 41 now. Motley Crue & Cinderella still blast from my stereo. My 16 year old daughter wears KISS, Poison & Crue shirts(along with Avenged Sevenfold tees).
I'M NEVER GONNA' "GROW OUT" OF THE 80s! I'M JUST GONNA PASS IT ON!

Hail SIXX-again! haha
Never get out of it! there have to be people who keep the 80's alive. I love it when you driving in the car and stop by a traffic light, and there is some bald guy in a trainy standing next to you with some horrible hardcore or dance music on. I love to turn my music as loud as it will go!Or how many times you arive at school with the music fully open and when you get out of the car you friends ask what the fuck you were listening. And i can say proudly with a smile on my face it was kiss or something.

I'm with you on that! People accuse me of being in the middle of a mid-life crisis 'cause I still rock the 80s metal(and other 80s genres). But to me, nothing SCREAMS mid-life crisis more than an 40-something year old driving along blasting Lil Wayne or Lady GaGa.
Nothing better than pulling up next to some young guy with his shitty rap music vibrating the neighborhood and then cranking the car stereo volume up as Motley Crue's "Kickstart My Heart" revs to a beginning! They always roll their windows up and fuck off. Good times.
(Thankfully I'm not bald or balding...or it wouldn't have the same effect.)Posted 1 year ago # -
I was fortunate to at least be born in the year 1980. I have a very good memory and I can remember stuff from as far back as 83' when I was three years old. I remember smells, sounds etc. pretty vividly so I am fortunate. My dad was in a hair metal band so I was fully aware of hard rock and heavy metal at a very young age, I was practically raised on that shit! I also got to play with all the old toys and games of that era. I had every he man action figure, a Gremlins sleeping bag, Transformers, Nintendo, a rubix cube, Garbage Pail kid cards, a Hulkamania bandana etc. It was really my favorite time to be alive, everything was new and exciting, things started to get boring during the PC, yuppie 90's. After the early 90's when I was in high school I was pretty much bored of everything in the wider culture except for some exceptions. I still wish I would have been born in 1970 because instead I would've been a teenager in the 80's and experienced the decade to its fullest. I am with Sixx Again, wish I had a hot tub time machine, I'd give myself some investment tips, when to pull all my money out of the market when it went south and invest in gold. Then I'd go to Sunset Strip and start a glam metal band!

Yup. I'd live in the 80's in a second. I hate how blah today's American culture is. It's all about conforming to everyone else's ideas of normalcy. Few people take pride in being unique or setting their own trends instead of just following the crowd and trying to "fit in." It's insanely boring. Plus, pretty much all the music originating these days is absolutely abysmal. I missed the 80's by three lousy months (not that I would have been very much aware of my good fortune had I been born any time during the 80's, so maybe make it "I wish I'd been born 1970.")

I was born in 87.. so I totally missed it
I really think I was born about 15/20 years too late... maybe one day they'll invent time travel and I can go back and groupie for all the bands I love

I hear you Sixx-Chick. I swear I was born in the wrong decade! now all i can do is revel in the amazing music created during that time and envy everyone who got to experience it happening
Posted 1 year ago # -
Yep
And keep the image alive too
Obviously, until my time travelling plan is made possible.
