I have a list of songs that I think are overrated and way overplayed on the radio. Don't flame me! just want to see if anyone else agrees. I barely listen to the radio because of it : (Stone Temple Pilots) Plush, Sex Type Thing, Creep, Wicked Garden, Vasoline, Interstate Love Song
Pearl Jam - Yellow Ledbetter, Jeremy, Better Man, Even Flow, Alive, Daughter, Dissident
Led Zeppelin - Black Dog, Rock and Roll, Whole Lotta Love, Immigrant Song, The Ocean, D'yer Mak'er, Dancing Days, Kashmir
Guns 'N' Roses - Sweet Child 'O Mine, Welcome To the Jungle, Paradise City, Patience, November Rain, Knockin' on Heaven's Door"
Def Leppard - Photograph, Hysteria, Love Bites, Pour Some Sugar On Me,Too Late for Love, Animal, Armageddon It
AC/DC - You Shook Me All Night Long, Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap
Aerosmith - Janie's Got a Gun, Love in a Elevator, Dream On, Sweet Emotion, Walk This Way, Rag Doll, Cryin, Amazing
Cheap Trick - I Want You To Want Me
Lynyrd Skynyrd - Sweet Home Alabama, Free Bird
Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here, Comfortably Numb, Another Brick in the Wall
Queen - We Will Rock You, Fat Bottomed Girls
Nickleback - Rockstar, How You Remind Me, Animals
    Buckcherry - Crazy Bitch
Lips Of An Angel - Hinder
    U2 - Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For
John Mellencamp - Jack and Diane

    Would you add any more?

Looks like you named off my playlist. Plus a lot of Jani. That is part of what radio does. If you want to make a statement to them, then contact their advertisers or just switch stations. With internet radio and those options that allow you to actually program in what you want to listen to, it shouldn't be a problem. Yes, I agree, they do get to much airplay, but, it is just part of life. Cheers! Mama Bear

LOL, If you listen to Sirius, you get a lot of the same songs over and over again. I adore Girls, Girls, Girls by Motley Crue, but it seems to be the only song The Big 80's station on Sirius plays. One of these days I'll get it through their heads there are other songs. ;) I hope so, I work for Sirius. LMAO

But I agree. I rarely listen to the radio because of over playing songs. The problem is, they over play the songs because people request the songs. The more a song is requested, the more the station is going to play the song. Unfortunate, but that's the way it works.

I don't listen to the radio much but the song that I have heard in the radio the most would be Hotel California By The eagles.

Yeah Hotel California is another one they can't seem to sway from, lol
at my current job the radio is always on the same station 105.7 they play a lot of older rock, but then they seem to always play the songs I listed
that's why I stick to CDs or my Zune

yeah, i listen to XM radio, and to tell you the truth i'm extremely happy with it. They play a variety of songs, and often have people call in and talk about the bands, also sometimes they'll have guest stars on the station.. oh and i forgot to mention it's channel 41 on XM radio and the name of the station is Boneyard. It's really good, and i have no complaints! If your unhappy with regular radio, and are willing to spend a little extra cash, I'd definately go for XM radio... sorry Charity 8)

Man, oh man do they play the same 20 songs over and over. Enough Sweet Child O' Mine, enough Girls, girls, girls, enough We're Not Gonna Take It Anymore, enough Dream Warriors! They do play some different songs every now and then from bands like Salty Dog or Danger Danger(even though it's like the same song)

I've found that if I want to listen to the radio, I just stream from Pandora. It lets you set up your playlist (sort of) It is a pretty kewl broadcast. It searches for the qualities showing in what you list and then finds similar traits in other songs, it then plays some of those for you and lets you decide if you like those or not. It is called a genome project. It also gives you a brief history on the songs and bands that are playing and options to hear samples of other songs from that album. -- Mama Bear

That sounds like it beats all..because you've got those options, that way it'd probably wipe out the junk that you don't want to listen to..gonna have to check it out.

I hear ya rattNrollamber - our local "rock" station has a sorry, boring playlist and you can always tell what time it is by the song they are playing. I mean come on, thanks to them, I can no longer stand to listen to Aerosmith, AC/DC and Led Zeppelin...unless it is not of of the 3 songs from each band that they play over and over and over again. And what really sucks, they used to do the "Hairball" @ noon and for a half hour, it was nothing but jams from hair/glam bands...well they cut that down to 15 min. WTF?

I am so with you on that, I swear they play them must play them everyday! sweet child of mine is like nails on a chalkboard when it starts argh!

yeah 105.7 here has House Of Hair
and that's also been cut down to maybe 30 minutes or less
and sometimes they end up playing the same ones, and they aren't even glam/hair type metal, like Ted Nugent, ugh...

LOL, as far as I'm concerned, any Bon Jovi song is over-rated

I am actually sick of most of the new songs they play over and over again on my local rock station. They play the old stuff but when they play the new it is the same Avenged Seven Fold, Puddle of Mud or whatever record company wants me to buy a whole album for just that one song. Maybe it's just me.

I completely agree on Crazy Bitch. What a stupid song. I think it's just everyone's excuse to act like a slut when this song comes on. The lyrics are awkward and the beat is hard to move to.

Yes yes and yes! He's not even a good looking fellow and all they do is play his songs everywhere. I wouldn't go to the extremes and wish him dead but maybe he should retire....

Pearl Jam and Nirvana are both hopelessly over-rated bands in general, and I honestly cannot stand either of them. Were it not for the likes of Mother Love Bone, Alice In Chains, and Soundgarden...I would completely detest Grunge.

yeah i probably went a bit over board on that one hahaha. theres a show here thats called metal mania on vh1 classic. all they show is glam metal music videos from the eighties. and, most times, every hour, on the hour they always play a bon jovi video. and its always living on a prayer and some other one. i cant stand his music. although i gotta give ritchi sabora respect for landing a hot wife.

I have noticed all stations tend to do this and I doubt its really the DJ's fault on it, its the stations, the higher ups and so on. I have complained to my local station too but they dont do jack.
