I know that everyone thinks that their city is shit for Rock n Roll and that Sunset strip is probably the right way to go. But seriously nothing could be worse than the Australian Rock scene. Adelaide have ONE count it ONE metal bar that is now being over taken by dance and ravers so yeah...Adelaide had ONE rock club haha.
Melbourne is good and Sydney is better. But how is the rock/metal scene around the world???

I have to agree with Brooklynace. Its pathetic here in Sydney so I cant imagine how bad it is in other parts of the country.

In Copenhagen (Denmark) we have a cool metal/glam scene. We have a huge glam party, called Rock The Night every 4th month or so. All the new glam bands from Sweden come, Hardcore Superstar, Crashdiet, Vains of Jenna etc.
So yeah we got a pretty cool glam rivival

That "Rock The Night" party looks AMAZING!!! I'm jealous as fuck!
Here in Dallas, TX we have a good rock scene. I'm sure there are new/undiscovered bands playing "modern rock" music(screamers/Cookie Monster-vocals), where all the alpha-males mosh...
No thanks! We have a great 80s Glam cover band scene: Poison Cherry, Metal Shop, Love Gun, Guns 4 Roses, Hysteria, Velcro Pygmies, Metalgasm...Just to name a few. At least two to three weekends a month will have one or more of these bands playing somewhere in Big D!
I do wish there were more clubs/bars that played the recorded music from the originals -- but the rap/hip-hop/pop clubs out number them 1 to 100!
Every now and then Def Leppard's "Pour Some Sugar On Me" will play for a moment or two...The girls start dancing on tables or the nearest guy's lap... and then the song devolves into a rap tune!
But we still have the COVER BANDS!! And as long as they keep rocking it "old school", I'll be there!!

Oh man that looks amazing! I wish Australia had these sorts of gigs. We hardly get any gigs or good musicians around here =( Cant wait to check out Europe!

Well i live In Los Angeles (used to be the capitol of Glam)
and well its not the same like during the 80's Era like to be honest i don't anyone in real life that likes Glam rock or Hair metal which sucks and what i hate is that there's "THRASHERS" but no Glam Rockers man like it sucks how everyone forgot about Glam makes me sad i wish i was born earlier and lived the 80's but unfortunately i cant do anything about it so yeah thats LA...Add my Myspace! =D http://www.myspace.com/528344281Posted 1 year ago # -
Damn, here it's totally dead. Like, just the old dudes that are 40-60 and are married or are alcoholic know what do i mean when i say "hair bands" or "glam metal". (hence why i usually have to hang out with old dudes ------making it impossible to have a liking for someone my age xD. AAAAGH I HATE MY TOWN!)
I'm so glad that i'll go to LA this August.Posted 1 year ago # -
The music scene in my town blows. There is really no metal period, the only place that hosted metal bands, Samurai Duck closed down. So now we have shit music so called "indie" emo whiner bands, cRap groups, "Hardcore" (more like snore core)bands, and boring hippie folk bull shit. You'd think in a college town that there'd be more variety but thats not the case. If you even mention glam, well better be prepared to suffer derision and ridicule from the so called "hipsters" or know it alls. I don't give a fuck though, I love metal, I dress it and every day on the street I wear a different T shirt as a big fuck you to all these drooling retards who think they know music. I love the shocked look on their normally vapid faces.

Well, in North Louisiana, I'm not sure about the Shreveport area, but the rest is improving. Granted, alternative bands and country bands still outnumber glam/metal, but in the last year or so there have been a handful of bands coming up playing 80s. Crowds love it too. Our band will be an 80s tribute band, so hopefully there's still enough aquanet rockers out there for us...but yeah, the scene here has gone from dead without a pulse to alive with a weak heartbeat, lol.

Only screamo in my area. Though two guys from Queens of the Stone Age went to my HS back in the 90's

In Brazil, real rock scene already are very bad, the hard rock scene is almost non-existent, there are only a few, and there are no Glam metal/rock bands, local music, rap, pop and EMO still rules over here and there are no space for Rock in general, hope someday this changes, hopefully within a little time

There is no rock scene here.
My town is filled with emos, er scenes, er hardcore, hipsters? FUCK I don't even know WHAT they are called these days. But I hate them and they hate me.
Plenty of redneck fucks here too. My town is known for it's dairys.. enough said.
But occasionally there is a group of hottie glam/metal boys that walk around. But they all try to hard anyways. But I suppose it is better then nothing.Posted 1 year ago # -
our rock scene is pretty alive at the moment, not all glam metal or whatever but there are some bloody brilliant bands making their presence known over east anglia ..
no future for me!Posted 1 year ago # -
Nottingham (England) is pretty good for rock. There's a night club here called Rock City which has a more mainstream, modern rock room, a metal room and a room for classic rock and glam metal too. It's fantastic. There's also a club night called WildSide every first saturday of the month that's a glam metal night. I love it!!

Where I live rock is dead. I see very little rockers, some new-metalheads, and no glam rockers what-so-ever. My town's music scene is mostely composed of pop, rap, and country.

No glam kids..kids into glam who are punk, thrash or whatever but no glams.Went to see faster pussycat and i was the youngest person there.horrible.AZ is pretty much dead even the punk scene is dying.I went to L.A a few months ago and only saw pretentious rich kids on the strip.Goin back nov.5th so if anyone knows any good shows or places to hang hit me up.Maybe ill find the sunset stripletts

The old style of rock is dead around here... it sucks.
There are a few alternative people around here but most of them are Emo/screamo/hardcore kinda people. Some metalheads but thats it.
There are just a few lost 80's rockers around. It was so hard to find people for my hardrock band who also love the 80's but i've succeededPosted 1 year ago # -
It's not that great in Bristol to be honest. We have a couple of pubs me and my mates go to regularly and then a clubnight we go to on a friday that's not that great... plays a mix of metal and punk.
One of the pubs has recently started doing a cool night downstairs though
It's called Rock Out With Your Cock out and it's all 80s glam and metal
Awesomenesssss!!

I wanna go to 'Rock the Night' *jawdrop*
We have a pretty small but good scene in Antwerp.

In my town.. Ah Christ... We have some bands, that try to do something, but since no one wants to support them except the kids and local radio station.
My nasty reputation takes me everywhere.

There is HARDGLAMHEAVYROCK night on every friday at one very cool club.
The guy who is DJing there, also goes to other clubs from time to time.
There are like two glam bands around, but it's nothing quite serious (yet)... though I'd say one of them has potential. There are tribute bands, very good ones.Anyway, death, new, thrash and glam are kinda popular, so pretty much everyone has its sceene.
There are of course tons of pubs with jukeboxes, where all kinds of metalheads go out.
The bad thing is that original bands don't tour here a lot, so people mostly go to Hungary, Chech Republic, etc. to see the concerts.

Chicago is a Hipster Mecca, so the House and Indie Music Scenes are King, theres a pretty big Heavier Metal Scene and obviously theres smaller scenes for just about any genre. For the RNR/Glam Scene there were obviously some of the veteran Rock/Glam Bands (Holland, D'Molls, E'Nuff Z'Nuff) that played out every so often and could draw. There were tribute bands/cover bands. And there was/is a crop of Young Gun Glam bands of which i played in two (Felon Love(played in), Hessler(played in), Loveblast, Down N'Dirty, Thunder Under Us, Black Actress, Black Saints, and our hometown Heros The Last Vegas). I think it amounts to about one serious new young gun glam band per million people perhaps.

In Paris we've got quite the same thing as ROCK THE NIGHT except that it's called GLAM ROCK HEAVY METAL PARTIES, and it's every 2 months (but i'm still too young to go there, need to be 18
)
We also have a few glam bands that are really good, so i would say that there is a good rock scene in paris

I'm from Montreal Canada, and the scene here is ok. In the underground venues its more modern metal, deathcore, metalcore, that stuff, but once in awhile you'll get a good band not doing that. Despite that, there are alot of ppl into the music. We have an annual festival called "HEAVY MTL" (MTL representing both metal and montreal) and all sorts of bands play there, the crue even headlined the first year. I went this year and wore a shout at the devil shirt and everyone talked to me cause they dug i was wearing it haha. One chick even made out with me then yelled "GLAM RULES" as i was pulled back into the Girlschool pit haha.
So it aint so bad, and my bands gonna get some gigs once our demos done, so we'll be glamminng the scene up a bit

Ooo is that rock out.. night in Bristol still going? Would definitely check it out if it is!
Got it pretty good in Cardiff compared to other places. As of this year there's now a rock bar open every day that does a few standard rock nights and then once a month there's Tombstone, classic rock, and Nice n Sleazy, glam/sleaze/rock n roll (but it's not great if you want to hear mucb beyond crue, poison, etc =/). Get plenty of tribute bands like Guns 2 Roses, and got Whole Lotta DC and a motley crue band to look forward to in the coming weeks.
As for Wales as a whole there's a few proper local glam bands around. Got Hard Rock Hell in north wales that's had some awesome bands on their bill. Then there's a new festival coming next month called Steelhouse with Tigertailz and The Quireboys headling.
So would definitely recommend a visit here!Posted 6 months ago # -
Sweden have a cool music scene, but unfortunately the most of the bands are thrash/metalheads. But i shouldnt complain, we have got some cool hardrock/glam clubs and pubs in my small town up north, and if you go south youll find even more of them.

I'm from Newcastle, Australia
Here is filled with crappy rap/dance clubs like everywhere else, we do have a few bars for rock but it's mostly screamo, hardcore, indie, all garbage really, we did have Hansel here though, they were glam and a good group of guys, i saw the last gig they did before the singer moved to Norway.Posted 5 months ago #
