Listen, I just don't get it. I really tried listening to Hip Hop but it just ended up annoying the holy livin' shit out of me. There was nothing to it, it was very sparse, boring and there was no meat to it. People who defend it say there is talent involved but I just don't see it. Talking in front of a one note bass line or a sample of somebody else's music just doesn't seem to me like talent. I mean shit, I know certain songs by bands I like where the lead singer talks in front of their band while their playing, anybody can do that. Apologies to any of you who like hip hop, maybe I am just a outdated old fart. Is it just me or do any of you guys have the same opinion?

Nah man, it's not you. Hip Hop is such a pile of shit that it stinks to high heaven.

Used to work with a bunch of young guys that would play CD's all day when they worked and take a ghetto blaster outside on their lunch break to strut their moves. They were a pack of immature morons.

Yeah, maybe we are getting old but GLAM RULES!!!!!!!!!!

The thing with 80's Hip Hop was it actually had instrumental backing for the most part and actually Run DMC wasn't too bad. What I meant by Hip Hop sucking is the stuff that is out now, although I still love Glam, Hard Rock and Metal more than old Hip Hop, I can only listen to some of that old Hip Hop then it kind of gets on my nerves.

Agreed! And no it is not just you. Hip Hop is just something some drunken assf@ck dreamed up of when he got too high. I HATE Hip Hop with a burning passion, and hope it fades away and our beloved music will come back and rule over the lives that have been wasted by not realizing that 80's is the best ever. *evil laugh* xD

Awesome guys! I am not the only one! I think it will eventually go away, its just plain retarded and all its fans seem to be wanna be momma boy, suburban gangsters who if they were put in a real hood wouldn't survive one milisecond. So I could just talk a bunch of gibberish standing in front of a boom box playing somebody else's tune and call it music? I thought to play music you had to, oh well, play a goddamn fucking instrument!

I don't know dude i have never understood hip hop and probally never will. It's a waste of a record deal if you ask me, atleast in our type of music the bands actually have talent and you can actually understand what the fuck they're saying!

Some of it is ok. But most of it sucks like hell. Eminem is more of a soulful rap/hip hop, that's the only reason I listen to him. He's not like those other f@ckers. No offense to anyone who does like other people.

80's rap was, indeed, better. Like RockLiberty said, Run DMC was good. Even though I wasn't around to hear them live then ._.

Time to come clean people, I'm a young 80's fan. 12 yrs old and lovin' the 80's with everythin' I got.

Again, agreed. Rap and Hip Hop is all about hoes and cars (~Even though older cars are awesome, like 96' Cadillacs~) and alcohol and all sorts of shiz. Whatever happened to the good stuff?

And TYTYTY Melancolia and Tommy for agreeing with me. Pretty_Boy_Catt, I totally get what you're talking about. So, yeah RockLiberty, you're not the only one.

Not many people know this, but I'm nuts about the Beastie Boys.
Obviously they don't mean as much to me as my favourite rock bands, and I can much better relate to rock, but the Beastie Boys are just good silly fun. :P

But yeah, aside from them, I can't stand rap or hip hop.

I'm livin' in the 70s, I feel like I've lost my keys

I actually don't mind Beastie Boy's first album License to Ill. "Fight for Your Right" is a completely hair/glam song with Kerry King from Slayer on guitar or the song "No Sleep Till Brooklyn" again Kerry taking the honours but that was in the 80's and there was actual instruments on the album. In my opinion after the 80's the Beasties became lame but thats just my opinion. Glad you have good taste Nikisixxlover, I was born in the year 1980 and my pops was in a hair metal band so I was raised with all that shit. I remember most of the 80's, I just wished I'd been born in '70 instead then I'd totally remember everything. RockLiberty is going to reveal something embarrassing, he had a mullet in first grade! Not only that but glasses too! My girlfriend is threatening to put the pic up but so far she hasn't found out my password. When Rap was born it was actually good, now its just diluted garbage.

=O Very kewl Pretty_Boy_Catt. I like Beastie Boys, and a little of Eminem. Btw, I feel like an idiot asking this but, whose in your pic? ._.

Ty RockLiberty ^_~ My parents say that I chose the good path of life. And btw, what was the name of the band your father was in? xDDDDD OMG A mullet? My dad had one AND glasses. I saw a pic of him from that time, a little scary but funny as hell. Truth be told, rap was awesome untill people like 50 Cent and all them came out. Eminem actualy did a cover-over of "Toy Soldiers" an anti-drug song. He let the chorus play and after that he starts singing (~Talking, whatever the f@ck you want to call it~) to his own beat, but it's a good mix.

    RANDOM:
I was Nikki Sixx for Halloween last year >.> I had HUGE platform boots and chains and all that. I looked like him, too. xD

My dad was in a couple bands, none popular, coolest name being Crucial Mercy. My dad toured with his band but never really got any where, however my dad did open for LA Guns. I didn't get to go in the Roxy because I was too young but I actually got to see the band leaving from the back all sweaty, with big hair! I am from Northern Cali but my dad went everywhere, he released one record in vinyl which I am trying to find. If I get a copy I am going to put it to CD, my pops is pretty embarrassed by it. His band too was a victim of the plague that wiped out so many bands of that era, Nirvanatitis! Anyways, rap is missing something now a days, its almost become a parody of itself, I just don't know how long they can talk about money, bitches and hoes when the economy is in the shitter. This is maybe its swan song and real rock can step into the void again! Glam to the rescue!

I lived in Mount Shasta California about a hour and half north of Sacramento. It was a small town and people weren't very supportive of my dads (uh mmmm) career choice. My dad and his band mates were high school buddies and the odd men out, they were probably the only ones in town that had big and long hair. Both sets of my grandparents weren't too happy either, my parents had me while they were still in high school, so my parents compared to alot of other people's are young. I was raised on rock, it was always around, on the turn table, in the cassette player (man I am old!), on Mtv when it was good and when my dad's band practiced. My mom had Joan Jet hair and my dad's was long with alot of aqua net in it! The first rap video I remember as a kid was "Fight for Your Right" by Beastie Boys all though I don't consider that song rap. My dad hated rap back then and still does, he still plays but he is kind of embarrassed about his 80's stuff but I want to hear it again, I think he's hiding that vinyl from me.

Dude!! That's awesome RockLiberty!! Why should he be embarrassed? o.0 That's kewl. No matter what age. I stole a couple cassettes from my dad >.> And his cassette player. I also have a Crue record. "Too Fast For Love." Nothing like the originals, eh?

O.O That's YOU, Catt? Daaamn. You're too old for me but, that's awesome. I totally agree with your name xDDD My friend and I (~Both being 80's fanatics~), think the hair, is complete awesomeness.
