Hey, ya'll, a little about me to help put this in context before you have a GOOD laugh at my expense

First, I have two Associates Degrees, one in CIS/IT and one in Graphic Design and Print Technology. Not that these are a great big fat deal, for sure, but it should give you an idea that I have at least a medium level of comfort with modern technology.

I am the chick that my friends and family call when they have set their computer on fire and I go and put it out, or whatever needs to be done.

So that being said, I have a dirty little secret...

Even with the advent of CDs, MP3s and the like, I keep (get this) a tape deck in my car! I just love my tapes! Someday, I will convert them all to CD when I am suddenly hit with some measure of unlaziness, but until then...

Anyone else still listening to tapes, vinyl, 8 tracks, Edison cylinders, etc.?

I've just bought a load of vinyls and tapes. They're more fun than CDs!

    I didn't even acquire a CD player until Y2K (2000).

By then I had accumulated a fair amount of demo CDs...

I really like the "flavor" of vinyl better.Tho I would tape most of mine to cassettes to reduce wear.

CDs to me just don't have the same feel and warmth as other formats, even if they are supposed to last longer. Nobody bothers my car because not many people want tapes and I get to listen to exactly the music I want to listen to.

I still have all my vinyl, I just can't part with it, it's like each one is a work of art to me. That is something that CDs just don't have is the bitchen cover and inner sleeve art, just not the same character.

I buy tapes up at used records stores, thrift shops, yard sales, etc. I have used some up, for sure! I get laughed at but screw 'em, I'm a happy chickie!

    Don't sweat it.

Over the weekend and because I've moved into a smaller apartment, I got myself one of these micro systems. It's a sony and plays DVDs, fucking awesome it is.

It's got a cassette player in it too. So I spent a whole day listening to demo's and live desk performances that I haven't heard for like 15 years.

Sound quality compared to digital is absolute shit but the memories are priceless.

I recently went to a thrift shop and bought like a dozen tapess for about five dollars, and when I got home I realized that I can actually play them on my cd players because it has a tape deck in it. I had no freaking idea because I never use it, so I was really pleased. my dad has a bunch of old records, but we don't have a record player. I want to get on him about getting one. I had a friend come over a bit ago with an old ass fisher price record player that we listened to Alice Cooper's greatest hits on, lol.

I only have a tape player in my car, so I dug out all my old ones, buy them at second hand shops, off auction sites. I do have an mp3 player that i can run thru my car setup, but the tapes are just easier. Also, you can always pick up loads of glam and metal etc around the place. I scored all the motley crue albums on tape for like, ten bucks! sweeet...

You shouldn't talk to me. Find better company. There's better people to know. You'll only end up like Rimbaud. Get shot by Verlaine...
