nothing beats "I Remember You". Skid Row is the only band where I believe a power ballad is their best song!

Cinderella's "Nobody's Fool" is actually a power ballad. A damn good one too!
"I even had a little mini skirt and waistcoat made for Wig Wam Bam. The skirt was so short, my undercart hung beneath the hem. I thought it best to keep my underwear on"-Steve PriestPosted 4 years ago # -
This has got to be the best one : Sweet Child O'Mine : Guns N Roses

I'll go with ones not mentioned unless I overlooked it. Cinderella's "Don't know what you got, till its gone" and Vixen's "Living on the edge of a broken heart"

I don't use the term power ballad, a ballad is a ballad to me, and there are many underrated ones. my favorite one is:
Return To Serenity--Testament
Great underrated ballads:
You See Me Crying and Home Tonight--Aerosmith
Closer To My Heart and I Want To Love You Tonight--Ratt
Existence Is Punishment and Time Heals Nothing--Crowbar
Ride On--AC/DC (Their only Ballad)My Favorite Well-Known Ballads
Only Women Bleed
Every Rose Has Its Thorn
(The Song I Wrote I Consider A Cross Between These Two Ballads)
and last but not least:
(The Best Motley Crue Ballad To Me)

isn't a ballad supposed to be a song that tells a story anyway?
"I Want Some Glam RockingZ in My StockingZ!!!"
Posted 4 years ago # -
There are a few standouts...nothing b grade though. Its gotta be something really special for me to qualify it. These spring to mind:
Before the Dawn - Judas Priest
Dokken - Will the Sun Rise
Queensryche - I will Remember
One In a Million - Guns and Roses
Steelheart - Angel Eyes
Twisted Sister - The Price
White Lion - Wait
Whitesnake - Crying in the RainThe Scorpions have usually one noteable one on every record.

I still think the best "power" ballad I've heard is by Kiss. "Beth".

There is a difference between 'Power' ballad and an ordinary 'ballad'.
Without gettin into too much technicality, a power ballad is still big on certain sections with electric guitar, a definitive solo guitar and reasonably 'heavy' sounding chorus with big vocal arrangement - hence the term 'Power'Some of the choices peole have mentioned don't qualify as 'Power Ballads'
"I'M BACK!!"Posted 4 years ago # -

Before the Dawn - Judas Priest
- RichieWristrokkitGawd, I love this song. I told those close to me if they don't play this at my funeral, I am mean enough to come back and haunt them.

Damn Yankees "High Enough"
- LadyPeterbilt"I even had a little mini skirt and waistcoat made for Wig Wam Bam. The skirt was so short, my undercart hung beneath the hem. I thought it best to keep my underwear on"-Steve PriestPosted 4 years ago # -
Without You is my favourite, although Every Rose... comes pretty close. Also, Priest have heaps of amazing ones, Before the Dawn is a great example. Wasting Love by Iron Maiden is a bit of a fav too...
I seriously need to hear some Warrant, I loved I Saw Red as a young teen but haven't heard it in years.
"Personally monsieur," said Poirot, "I don't give le fuck."
You shouldn't talk to me. Find better company. There's better people to know. You'll only end up like Rimbaud. Get shot by Verlaine...Posted 4 years ago # -
