I just love it when i'm enjoying a good movie and suddenly some classic glam rock/metal song comes on as part of the movie soundtrack. Sure, there are some films like Rock Star and Detroit Rock City, that concern this kind of music, so you expect them to have an almighty rockin' soundtrack, but somehow it's even better when you're not expecting it.

A couple of my favourites are:

    The Golden Child (1986)

Classic Eddie Murphy flick, prominently featuring Ratt's 'Body talk' video. This was my first taste of glam metal, so has a special meaning for me. Great film too. Here's the trailer, although it sadly doesn't include the Ratt song:

A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors (1987)

My favourite of this horror series was also a major advert for Dokken. The scene featuring 'Into The Fire' made me jump out of my seat and shout 'Hell yeah!'. Gotta love rokkin' with Dokken. Their music video for 'Dream warriors' is based around the film and was also in the soundtrack:

So how about the rest of you? What are your favourite glam rockin' film moments?

I just watched Rocky Horror Picture Show for the first time last week, I've seen it five more times since, haha. It's got such an amazing soundtrack. Also rented Hedwig and the Angry Inch on the recomendation of a guy at the video store, it was pretty cool. Really, really weird, though. Only watched it once, though.

The 1991 movie Point Break with Patrick Swayze, Keanu Reeves and Gary Busey had an awesome soundtrak with some great glam rock, including the best glam band ever, RATT!

Some great ones, people. Keep 'em coming. You're right jjb, Point Break had some great tunes. I'd forgotten about that one.

Here's a couple more of my favourites. I sure love 80s horror films, and even more so when they're about demonic glam rock stars. I give you not one, but two films based on this superb concept...

    Black Roses (1988 ):

"When the sleepy town of Mill Basin is invaded by a sleazy band of hard rockers, the self-righteous townspeople try to stop their concert series. Parents and teenagers are pitted against each other as the parent' frantic phobias about the band seem to override all common sense, Only high school teacher Matthew is keeping an open mind - and when the band finally overcome parental objections and perform in Mill basin, he is the only one who recognizes the music's sinister effect on the kids. Gradually, a town full of normal kids begins to turn bad. Bloodshed, riots and horrible mass murders assail defenseless Mill Basin. Matthew senses the band's influence is to blame. But how? Are they really something else - something unexpected - something evil?..."

Of course they are!! If Lordi didn't steal their ideas from GWAR, then it was definitely from Black Roses. The film is so bad it's almost good, and the soundtrack is smoking!! The demonic band is none other than King Kobra! Carmine Appice never looked more appealing.

    Trick Or Treat (1986):

"Rock Horror! Blistering Sounds And Special FX in a hilarious tale nof Rock 'N' Roll gone bad. Eddie Weinbauer is a typical all-American teenager. At least he was until he fell under the evil spell of rock music. Now he's obsessed with his superstar idol Sammi Curr and as Halloween approaches, Eddie begins to realise this isn't only rock 'n' roll... it's life or death."

This one's a classic. featuring guest appearances by both Gene Simmons and Ozzy Osbourne, and a blistering soundtrack performed by Fastway. If you haven't seen it, when would now be a good time?

Maximum Overdrive! Those fucking trucks used to freak me out lol!

And I LOVE Trick or Treat, Fastway are excellent, but I've never been able to find the soundtrack or any albums, just a couple of tracks on compilations...

"Personally monsieur," said Poirot, "I don't give le fuck."

You shouldn't talk to me. Find better company. There's better people to know. You'll only end up like Rimbaud. Get shot by Verlaine...

Those movies sound awesome. Definately gonna check 'em out.

    Here's one (just a reference)-
Donnie Darko is set in 1988 and in the party scene they play almost a minute of Pantera's 'Proud To Be Loud'.

Not a movie, but during an episode of Scrubs, Carla and Ted sing a rendition of Poison's talk dirty to me. Pretty funny scene:

I don't have a link for this one, but I remember an epiode of The Simpsons where a band play a New Year's gig, quite unable to remember whether they're Ratt, Cinderella or Quiet Riot, lol!

    Yup- great film too.

    It's a laugh a minute film too:

    -The 'Smell the Glove' controversy
-The band get lost on the way to the stage
-The endless supply of drummers exploding or dying in gardening accidents
    -The classic stonehenge scene
-The 'Pop Look and Listen' footage of them starting out in the 60's!

    Rocky Horror
Hedwig...which, I loved the story and the music, but it seems like it would be more fun to see the play. Then again, I haven't seen it years,a second watch might go over differently for me.
Velvet Goldmine was what turned me on to Roxy Music, who I was only vaguely familiar with before
Spinal Tap is a great Rock & Roll movie PERIOD....genres be damned!
Do concert films count? If so:
Ziggy Stardust& The Spiders From Mars:The Motion Picture
Marc Bolan:The Final Word is a good documentary about Bolan's whole career
Born 2 Boogie-not to be confused with Born To Boogie, this is Rolan Bolan's documentary about his exploration of Marc's career and the making of Born To Boogie.
I'm sure Born To Boogie is great, and one of these days I'll finally see it, but B2B is interesting too.

I vaguely remember hearing about Black Roses, but never saw it, and I remember when Trick Or Treat came out, but never saw it.
But in that Glam Metal vein:
The Decline Of Western Civilization Part 2 is chock full of Hair bands.
and The Dungeonmaster has a cameo of W.A.S.P. playing(Tormentor, I think).
I may have seen Dungeonmaster, but it doesn't stick out in my memory, so I don't know how good it is. I think I might have only heard *about* it.

There's this Aussie movie called Thunderstruck, which is about a bunch of guys who make it their mission to sprinkle their mate's ashes over Bon Scott's grave.

Wayne's World also feature a lot of glam metal references but not nearly as much as the Bill and Ted movies.

Movie is Iron Eagle. Haven't watched it that I remember, Ken still refuses to join the site, he just tells me what he wants added.
    Queen -- One Vision

Twisted Sister -- We're not gonna take it

I couldn't find the movie portion for this one, but I had to include the vid for you.

    Iron Eagle II
Alice Cooper -- I got a line on you
