    Ok, here's a fun little game we can play. The rules are simple... basically, I'll name two bands, and the next person to reply has to name who they think would win in a 'play-off' and give your reason why (you can base your opinion on whatever you want, be it technical ability or song writing cred). You must then choose someone to go up against your winner in the next round and the next person who replies to you post must decide the winner and name who 'they' are going up against in the round after that, so on and so on!

    Ok, I'll start:

    axeman, I'm choosing Whitesnake. Reason : All this is based around the era of their self-titled album released in 1987. In a name....John Sykes. While 99% of glam guitarists opted for Floyd Rose style bridges, John Sykes did it all on a Les Paul and made it sound great.

    Syndrome : That's a tough one you set out but in this instance, Scorpions wins by a hair (no pun intended). Reason : Herman Rarebell, such a great name for a drummer.

    good point you present mr motley guy how ever Ratt would win for 2 reason's, one stephen pearcy was and is the best vocalist of any genre and 2, Ratt's lryics make so much more sense then that of poison....p.s.....as for white snake vs scorpions i choose white snake hands down

    Sorry Metalrulesall, but I gotta laugh - I'm not having a go at you, I seriously want to know because I perform this song every night with my band, but I'm fucked if I know what Stephen is talking about!!!! What the hell does this song mean?? Each line has no continuity or meaning to line before it or after it????

    And sorry for getting off topic, but I always thought Ratt had the dumbest lyrics!

    This is a good one. Both long time veterans of the glam scene. However.....

    Glamster, Unskinny Bop was a 'working title' that Bret used when writing the lyrics, because CC had already composed the music. They admit that it means absloutely nothing. When he couldn't think of anything that fit phonetically into the bars of the chorus, he decide to keep it as 'Unskinny Bop'...to forever be talked about in glam forums along with the meaning of 'American Pie' & 'Hotel California' ;-)

    everyone needs to get over it... unskinny bop and round and round are both good songs in my book. and by the way... how is unskinny bop one of those songs with an unknown meaning? take the song and add your own meaning to it.. isnt that makes a great song great anyway?

    They are both good songs - but the lyrics are both pretty pointless.

    But the point to this topic'debate is that Poison admit to it meaning nothing, whereas Metalrulesall is trying to convince us that the Ratt lyrics are somehow meaningful and that Stephen is amongst the top vocalists in this genre!?!?!?!?

    if stephens vocals were in any other band, it probably wouldnt sound good. but his voive matches the style of music they play. kinda like vince... his vocals suck balls.. but sound great in crue.. its all about how the sound comes together

    Fallen Angel, you are absoulutely right. I couldn't agree more!

    But to suggest that either Stephen OR Vince "is the best vocalist of any genre.." as another post mentioned, is taking it just a little too far!!!!!!!!!!

    you wouldn't believe how long it took me to find this post...

    i've been waiting about a week to offer my insight...and my interpretation of Unskinny Bop just involves glancing at my sig really...whether it be right or wrong that's what i got from it the first time i listened to it. :wink:
