With many Glam bands slowly regaining their popularity, do you think we'll be seeing a full-fledged Glam revival sometime in the near future?

Personally I am unsure, but I do see many more Glam bands re-uniting, but I don't know how many NEW bands we'd be seeing.

Regardless, I am hoping to see Glam staying strong in the coming years.

Right now, it seems to be grunge and hardcore on the scene...but I really do think Glam will be back. Just like The Rocky Horror Picture Show, glam is a cult classic.

I think the the revival is already happening. Bon Jovi is touring and even Faster Pussycat has release an album. I was in Las Vegas over the weekend and the announcer was even wearing wild platform shoes!

Glam seems to keep rearing it's head up from time to time into the mainstream with acts like the Darkness and Wig Wam but I fear to be hosest that we will never see a full blown revival on a mainstream commercial level. The world in general is a different place to what it was in the 70's and 80's and bands & musicians seem to be totally against having a good time these days.

There is a healthy underground following for the glam-shock/goth genre which seems to be the closest thing in the new milenium to what we had back in the 70's & 80's. But everytime a band gets a look into the mainstream they get dismissed as a novelty act or that they're not serious.

lol...get..the very big "EVER"...but i practice often...starting with the make-up...i walk the streets caked up....like today for example....

    -70s style trousers: CHECK!
    -Homemade Sweet Tee: CHECK!
-Trousers topped with Silver Glittery Belt: CHECK!

-Face covered in Bronze, Silver, Gold and Pink of course!

    and last night...i sang so loud...you all probably heard me....and i've finally learned a valuable lesson;

I don't think it will be as huge as it was in the 80s but there is a mini revival happening. There is an ad on Australian TV at the moment that features Warrant's "Cherry Pie" and another that has Poison's "Nothing but a Good Time" playing throughout.

Yeah, I think it's going on right now.

Whether you call it renewed interest or a revival I don't know. But what I do know for sure is the "Guitar Hero" franchise, originally developed by Microsoft and now available across the top gaming platforms, is exposing kids to glam in big way.

    Track listings

    Guitar Hero 2 :

Motley Crue - Shout at the Devil
    Cheap Trick - Surrender
Spinal Tap - Tonight I'm Gonna Rock You Tonight
    Kiss - Strutter
Van Halen - You Really Got Me
Iggy Pop and the Stooges - Search and Destroy
    Warrant - Cherry Pie
Guns N' Roses - Sweet Child O' Mine
    Thin Lizzy - Bad Reputation
    Aerosmith - Last Child
    Heart - Crazy on You

    Guitar Hero 3:

    Poison- Talk Dirty to Me
Kiss- Rock and Roll All Nite
    Alice Cooper- School’s Out
    Heart- Barracuda
Aerosmith- Same Old Song and Dance
    Boss: Slash- Guitar Battle
Guns N Roses- Welcome to the Jungle
Bret Michaels Band- Go That Far
Dragonforce- Through the Fire and the Flames

With that being said, Guitar Hero 2/3 actually exposed them to alot of shit as well but the songs represented about amount to approximately 35% of the total number of songs.

Personally, I think the internet is keeping older music alive. It may be killing newer musicians through downloads. But forums like this and other websites list bands that most people haven't heard of. For example, I wouldn't have heard of Cinderella if they weren't on the "glam metal" section of wikipedia. It's sites dedicated to glam that is generating new fans.

I sure hope so, the people that are going to have to make it happen are these young glam bands like Vains Of Jenna. I saw them with Ratt and Poison. They were pretty good. Watching them was fun to see a young glam band with enthusiasm. It would kick so much ass to have another band like a Motley Crue in todays world

Uhmmm no, there will never be a glam/sleaze revival big and mainstream enough as it was in the 80´s. I do not know if MTV is covering the new wave of glam/sleaze metal...I have not watched that channel since grunge took over...but I have got a feeling that they are not and without MTV then no mainstream succes.

But you know that is not necessarily a bad thing. When a music style has a revival without the help from the mainstream industry then it is not going away again...it will remain underground, but it will stick around supported by devoted fans who love the music and support the life style to the max. this has happend to goth and it is still around and I am hoping that the same will happen to glam/sleaze...a scene run by the musicians and fans...and not MTV and the mainstream music industry.

So I hope that glam/sleaze will grow bigger, but remain underground...anything than relying on MTV again...that was a huge mistake, never to be repeated again.

    WHAT?????? Is grunge back????? How????

honestly as lame as it sounds i wouldnt mind a full blown mainstream revival like you were talking about, Sabrina. while underground scenes are cool, i think another mainstream scene would be good for glam. i mean, looking at the fan base of today, a lot of it is young. an underground scene would usually consist of dudes in their 20s and above, usually dudes who grew up listening to the stuff. i think it would be great if MTV trashed all the shit they play and started playing glam vids and stuff like that. i'm all for it.

I agree that a small mainstrean revival would be beneficial to our beloved genre. Us original glamsters from the 70's & 80's are getting older, so we need the young blood to continue to fly our flag. The exposure that MTV, radio and other media outlets will ensure that a new generation of glam will live for another few decades.

I can understand how some of us would like it to remain underground, but that will make it difficult for it's longevity as a whole.

Definitely in Sweden. In America, the revival is minor and is driven largely by Poison. That's what I think.
