I searched the site and didn't really see an official thread for this, and I'm not sure if this is in the right forum or not, but anyways... I was wondering what everyone thinks of Chinese Democracy? I actually don't think it's that bad! I expected it to be a lot worse! (Which is funny - because most people expected it to be a lot BETTER.) I really dig some of the new songs, however, I was listening to it last night for a while, when I abruptly stopped and searched "Guns N Roses, Live At Ritz, 88" and started watching those. Haha. New GNR just doesn't compare to the original GNR. =( Though I gotta say, Axl can still sing!

I think it rules compared to everyone else's come back albums. I am just glad that it finally came out and i was lucky enough to get one of the last copys that best buy had because i stood in line at the door for two hours to get my hands on it!

Chinese Democracy turned out to be a lot better than I was expecting, although it's hard to consider it as Guns N' Roses, when everyone from the classic lineup is gone besides Axl Rose himself. While the album may not quite live up to it's hype, it still has managed to be one of the best Rock albums in quite a few years.

I actually enjoy it, I was also one of these people that were expecting it to be "horrible" but is not bad. It can't be compared to old GnR but not bad.

It is not my favorite by far, but it is not the worst thing in the world either. I am still trying to translate some of it, as its a little confusing but I am slowly getting there.

I honestly don't think Chinese Democracy could have been made any better, no matter how many more years it would be delayed. My only question is what took Axl so long to release it? I know he had a bad writers block and was over self-conscious about his music, but sometimes you just gotta let it go and see what happens.

Seems I haven't actually listen to Chinese Democracy. It honestly seemed like a bad idea but since all of you have approved of it I'll give it a shot.

Yeah, it is shit, straight up shit.
I'd rather listen to Jay-Z with my trousers round my ankles and waving my hand infront of me like a retard and grabbing my balls.
Anyway, good news, Axl might be trying to reunite the original GnR line-up, and Velvet Revolver is going down the drain, so Slash might just be part of it if Tracii Guns turns it down.

I'd give it a 6 out of 10. It's not something that I will listen to over and over again and know every song by heart, but it's a good one to listen to while doing the household chores and needing a little perk.

    It's not G n R it's Axl's solo/ego project.

Do you know where you heard this? These kind of rumors have been going around for years and years, and some people think that Velvet Revolver already has a new singer which hasn't been revealed yet. Unless Velvet Revolver is completely put on hold, I find it highly unlikely that we will see any sort of classic lineup reunion, even if some former members have shown interest in it.

I for one will never listen to it...fuck axl...if they were to get back together it would be for the $$$ and thats it...but dont look for it to happen...axl fucked over steven adler when he was in dispair and the rest of the band went along with it...read the heroin diaries by nikki and see what was writtin about "the next motley crue" when they took them out on tour with the crue hahaha and vince neal would have kicked axl's ass when they had their feud going! LOL

It isn't a bad album it just is not GNR. Until Slash is back they will not be GNR. There are some good songs on the disc don't get me wrong but I would expect more from the time that was put into it. This would be good Axel Rose solo album. See my ratings at http://www.heavyharmonies.com

Its an ok Axl solo album but not worth spit next to a real GnR album. You can really notice Slash is missing. Poor guitar work in general, Axl does still manage a bit of magic with some of his vox. As for a reunion dont hold your breath i doubt Slash and Duff would go back to work for Axl as he ended up owning GnR. Velvet Revolver are as close as you will ever get to the old magic. Shame they didnt get Sebastian when they had the chance. Would have been a better band than the original. Sebastian is the voice of the generation in my book.

I don't think he should've called it Guns n' Roses, it should've been a Axl solo project because thats what it was. Much better than I expected but I am still disappointed, that ain't a contradiction.

The irony is that Slash himself is not even an original member, but he was their guitarist during the glory days, and certainly had a big hand in the sound they had developed. Anyway, I read a recent Axl interview, and it sounds like we won't be seeing a reunion anytime soon.

I think the first two tracks are excellent but i think the album goes downhill rapidly from there to be honest.

    But i've heard worse.

Fun fact: Axl apparently already has 2 more albums at a near completed state, and it will be some sort of trilogy he claims. The second album will be released around 2010, with the third to apparently be out by like 2012. Of course with Axl, it's hard to take any release dates seriously.

My opinion in 2 words of axl new album .......... IT SUCKS !!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, I know what ya mean. I started listening to the new album and just a few songs into it, I turned it off and searched "Guns N Roses Live at Ritz" on youtube. LOL. But actually, one song on Chinese Democracy is REALLY growing on me. The song, "Sorry." I think it's excellent. Best track on the CD, imo.

RUBBISH!, sounds nothing like previous albums. No classics there like 'Sweet Child of Mine', 'Welcome to the jungle', 'Paradise City'.
I prefer when the did the rock/punk thing they did originally. If anyone likes that too they should check out a band called 'Rockets To Ruin' they have the same kinda rawness about them as the original 'GnR'.
